As I mentioned in a previous post, I’m doing a layout a month based on a template from Jessica Sprague (I LOVE this approach – It’s the way I’m doing our family album for 2008). Anyway, I just spent about 25 minutes and I’m done. Here is the finished product. Now I’ll print it out & place it in my 12×12 family album. No guilt! All caught up! All in about 25 minutes.
Oh, and if you’re wondering how I have this much time to sit in front of my computer and blog & scrapbook- it’s because I have no ideas what my children are doing. Just kidding 🙂 I have a "mommy helper" who comes every Friday from 9am- 1pm- Miss Bethany. She has been watching our kids since Canyon was a baby and now she works for us at Northlake Surveying as James’ assistant. Every Friday, part of her job description is to help me with the kids. Today, since all of the bills are paid, the house is somewhat clean, laundry is adequate and I don’t have anywhere to be… I get to play 🙂 Fun Friday!
I have a lot on my mind- mostly I need to journal & this is my journal for all the world to see. I have so much wisdom to share so listen up! That was a joke, for those of you who don’t know how to sense sarcasm in font form. So, here are the things I’ve been pondering lately..
1. Saving Money- So I told you we had our VERY LARGE tax appointment last week. Well, one of the red flags (which shows itself every month in our budget) is our Starbucks budget. Along with that, our "eating out" budget. Way overboard- like we could probably afford a second home on these 2 categories alone (not exaggerating). So, I’m happy to announce, we have been starbucks and "dinner out" free for 5 days in a row! Now- I fear I may have just substituted "dinner out" for "lunch out" because as I entered receipts this week, we ate lunch out at Wendy’s, In-N-Out and Applebee’s (3 times in one week!) Wait! Did I just admit that out loud in print? What? I’m pregnant people! Can’t a pregnant lady have a little fat in her diet??!! Geez.
2. I think I need to get out more. I haven’t taken many pictures lately & the ones I have taken- I’ve deleted- too blah. I’ll post a few of Kennedy- just because posts without photos are boring.
A little Grunge for you on this fine Friday morning.
3. I’ve been organizing my thoughts on workflow lately. Mostly dealing with the masses of digital images I have and exactly how I want to/ need to scrapbook them. There’s a new book out by Stacy Julian called Photo Freedom. It’s a good read & a great springboard for organizing/ re-thinking your process of scrapbooking, but it’s not entirely for me. The trend in scrapbooking right now is to NOT scrap chronologically, but only to scrap themes and images that evoke emotions and inspire memories. I love that idea and I incorporate it into my scrapbooking, but I also like to see month-to-month what we were doing every year. Digital Scrapbooking lets me do this – very quickly! Have I mentioned how much I love my computer and my Photoshop program?
4. Another photo of Kennedy – grunge.
I told her to put her hands on her hips- ummmm…we need to work on that one.
5. This is how Kennedy prays.
on her face- before the Lord. It is so sweet to hear her prayers- she is so genuine. Yesterday James had a court case that he was NOT excited about & so she prayed for him early in the morning. Later that night (the court case was canceled and James was able to come home early) Kennedy told James- "Daddy, God hears my prayers!" We’ve been teaching her a lot about prayer lately- especially since she prayed this at Bible Study a few weeks ago: "Dear Jesus, please help our missionaries to feel better and help my friends to be better, and help God to be better. And help God to give us presents and THE END. Thankfully the Spirit makes intercession for us, right?
When I ramble on like this at home, Canyon says, "that’s a lot of words mommy." He’s right. This is a lot of words. thanks for listening & I’m glad I have them out of my head and onto paper (sort of) so I will have them to look back on later when I’m ready to do a scrapbook page about…. any of the above items. Have a great weekend!
My sister sent me an email requesting some answers to various "favorites" etc. Instead of typing them out and sending them to the masses- I decided to let the masses see them here. I must think more highly of my blog than I ought…. but I DO check the counter & I get a LOT of hits- just no comments! That’s okay- I do the same thing:) So the list goes something like this:
4 jobs I’ve had: I worked at a movie theater, as a nanny, as a customer service rep. at Numatic Engineering, and am now a photographer/mommy/ CFO/ housecleaner.
4 places I have lived: Marion, Ohio, Santa Clarita, CA, Sunland, CA and Castaic, CA
4 tv shows I watch: I don’t watch tv much, but I do like the Office and the Amazing Race
4 places I have been: My favorites are Cabo, a cruise to Mexico, Newport Beach and Chicago.
4 people who email me regularly: my husband:), Susie, Kelli, and my Earthlink spamblocker 🙂
4 of my favorite foods: potatoes, potatoes, potatoes and potatoes
4 places I would love to visit: I would love to go back to Chicago, I’d love to explore the New England states, I’d love to spend some time in New York in the fall, and I’d like to take my kids to Cabo again.
There you have it- not very interesting, I know. But I wanted to post something & since I haven’t taken any pictures lately… it’s kinda hard to post new information. Plus, i just don’t feel so great. I was in bed all day/ night yesterday & my very sweet husband made dinner and brought it to me in bed:) Then he cleaned the whole house and washed all the dirty towels in the house- isn’t he sweet? He’s better than sweet- he’s nearly perfect. In fact, I think he is perfect! He used to snore, but he’s been running and exercising & now- no snoring! He IS perfect!:)
