More Christmas Traditions..

One tradition we've been doing as long as I can remember (in my California life) is tree-trimming. Nana & Papa host dinner every year and all the girls from "babe night" as Mike so lovingly called it (it was a discipleship group that Michele held Tuesday nights at their house) come home to Southern California.  There were several girls in the study and most of us come every year even though we live all over the country (well, not ALL over the country, but pretty far away). This year a few of us got together to visit Huntington Gardens with the kids. It was Beautiful!

I wanted this photo to look like an old 1970's photo- did it work? It reminds me of the photos from my childhood. These are *some* of our children- they all played so well together.

Every year we buy the gingerbread house kits & every year I want to pull my hair our because the icing is SO hard to work with and it's just more trouble than it's worth. SO this year I found this little life-saver. Rice Krispie Treats holiday house kit. WAY yummier than the nasty gingerbread house and WAY easier to make.

I’ve Been MIA, I know…

I know. I've been absent. But it's with good excuse. My mom was in town. I love having her here, but it's always so hard to say goodbye. This time especially- I think somehow 2 or 3 days were stolen away from us & we're not sure where they went. We had a wonderful time. She is such an amazing woman. She just serves & serves and doesn't (seem to) get tired of it.  I do NOT get that from her.
She made us breakfast, lunch and dinner every day and she made 400 buckeyes and I can't count how much fudge… she even managed to finish a few sewing projects for the kids.

On the Saturday she was here, James & Canyon ran in the Pasadena 5K. Well, Canyon ran in the 1 mile race for kids & James ran the 5K. We were so proud of Canyon! It was supposed to be a 1K (which is about 1/2 mile) but when we got there, they told us it was actually 1 mile! Canyon was SO excited to run- we couldn't believe how committed to it he was.  He ran the whole thing and finished with a smile on his face. He earned a medal and a backpack and a hat. He was showing everyone- everywhere he went he wanted to take his medal. So SO proud of him!
