Introducing Chloe Gwen.

I only have a few seconds because she’s ready to eat again, but I wanted to introduce you to the newest member of our family. Chloe Gwen entered the world on December 10th at 4:41pm, weighing 7 lbs. 5.3ounces and measuring 19.5″ in length. She has dark brown hair and we haven’t really seen her eyes yet. She is SO sweet- loves to eat & loves to sleep.  More to come, I promise:)

1When Keagan first met her, he pointed at her and said repeatedly, “What’s that?”  We got that on video:)

2She has James’ feet- long and skinny. Super long fingers and toes- our first baby to have those!  The rest have my chubby hands and feet – sorry kids.

3James did an amazing job taking photos- we have over 200!!

4Not the baby anymore:)

Messy. Messy. Messy.

Last week at this time my entire house was spotless. I was nesting like CRAZY & cleaned and cleaned and cleaned. I cleaned my floors, my windows, I shook my curtains and my rugs, I dusted and I vacuumed, I fluffed the couch cushions, I cleaned the appliances… I was a madwoman.  Today, however, my house looks like this…

messy
We are in the process of moving the boys into my old office & my office into the boys’ room.  Keagan’s room and the hallway have become the “catch-all” rooms and in the process. My brain cannot compute all the mess.  I think I’ve mentioned before that my brain works like a computer. When there’s too much clutter (in my home or in my head)- I just shut down. I can’t handle it & I just walk away. I’ve always been like that.

The boys’ new bunk beds will be here tomorrow so that will help. They will have a trundle to hold all the miscellaneous toys.  The problem is- I have more “stuff” in my office than the boys (old) room will hold.  I’m going from a 12×14 space into a 10×10 space.  James will be adding a few more shelves to the closet, but I still don’t think it will fit.  Time to purge.

Any suggestions?  Also- Does anyone know what to do with old cds once you load them onto itunes?  I don’t really want to store them but I don’t want to throw them away either. Any suggestions??  Okay- Time to clean. Anyone want to come and help me??  I’ll buy you a Starbucks! 🙂

November 24, 2009 - 1:02 pm

Christine - Oh, pick me, pick me! This looks like so much fun (probably because it is not in my house). I’ll help…let’s schedule some time! Really this is FUN to me!!!

November 24, 2009 - 4:00 pm

Carol - We bought some cd folders with a zip closure. They each hold about 100 cds I think. Then we freecycled the jewel cases. You could store the jacket part with all the lyrics in the cd folders too, if that’s important to you. We don’t have a huge collection of cds & dvds, but it has really helped us find some extra space.

November 24, 2009 - 4:46 pm

Amber Hanshaw - We sold our CDs. About 400 of them.

November 24, 2009 - 6:44 pm

Kelli - Oh—friend! This look like my house right now too. It’s scary…I know. It’s hard cleaning out one room, and trying to figure out what to do with ALL the content. Keep or toss?? It’s even more difficult when you’re prego, and your energy level is DOWN! You’re almost there….! LOVE YOU!

November 24, 2009 - 11:50 pm

Cari - Oh, I feel your pain!! That’s how I feel in my house all the time. That’s why I’m such a freak about my cups. They’re the only thing I can control.

November 25, 2009 - 6:18 pm

Susie - I’ll come and help! Then I can avoid the mess here at my house. We had our carpets cleaned today, so my furniture is everywhere. But I did clean out the bonus room (and scrapbook area) this week!

December 3, 2009 - 3:34 pm

Tiffany - We think exactly alike. When I am overwhelmed and have too much to think about (especially when it comes to cleaning or organizing), I simply stop. And I only have TWO children. You are doing a fantastic job, Emily! I mean that with all my heart.

My Little Girl is 5.

It doesn’t seem possible.  5 sounds so much older than 4. I keep telling her to stop growing, to stay small, but she says, “mom! God created us to have birthdays!”  She’s right-God created her to grow and mature and honor and glorify Him and grow up into a woman with a gentle and quiet spirit who LOVES HIM and serves Him and others.  She’s off to a great start! I can honestly say that she is a JOY and a DELIGHT to our family. She has a very sweet little heart. She is obedient and respectful. She does not have an attitude or a temper. She is almost always happy & smiling and willing & eager to help me around the house.  She is my messiest child- her room is always a disaster, but she is quick to clean it when I tell her. She’s mostly a tomboy, but she likes girly things, too.  She is VERY smart and learns quickly- she’s already reading!!  She is BRAVE!! She has always been tough- she’s never been one to whine or cry when she falls (unless it’s bad). She was the first to ride a BIG roller coaster- even the boys wouldn’t do it!!  And speaking of brave, can you  guess what she wanted for her 5th birthday?  Can you tell from these pictures?

ears1She got her ears pierced!! The boys were telling her, “it’s going to hurt really bad like a shot!”  She said, “shots don’t hurt that bad.”  They said, “you’re probably going to cry.”  She said, “no I won’t.”  And she didn’t !!!!  She sat as still as could be, held James’ hand, and didn’t make a sound.  When it was done, she looked in the mirror and smiled and said, “I didn’t even cry!”  We’re so proud of our BIG girl.

I’ll post photos of her birthday party at some point, but for now… I need a little nap 🙂

November 16, 2009 - 12:17 am

Hallie - You don’t need a nap…have you seen yourself in this picture! You are a Babe! You clean up real nice. 9 months pregnant…I wonder where Kennedy gets all her goodness?

November 16, 2009 - 12:26 am

emily - Oh Hallie- You’re my biggest fan 🙂

November 16, 2009 - 2:05 am

Andrea Cervantes - Emily, that is precious! Julia got hers pierced last year when she turned 6 and wa so brace also! I love it. Kennedy is such a sweet little girl. dying for pictures of her party! And, I agree….you look beautiful!

November 16, 2009 - 2:07 am

Andrea Cervantes - Guess I should have proofread my post before posting. Forgot the “s” on “was” and wrote a “c” instead of a “v” in brave, forgot to captalize “D”. My fingers move independently of my brain….I may have more typos in this one! 🙂 sorry!

November 21, 2009 - 8:12 pm

Aunt Abby - You both look adorable-Happy Birthday Kennedy-we love and miss you-

December 3, 2009 - 3:31 pm

Tiffany - Amazing! I love that little girl. I always have. From the first time she was in the nursery till now. And what a gift from God to have such a loving, tough yet tenderhearted child. You are blessed!!!

UCLA fight, fight, fight.

It’s tradition now. This is the 3rd year in a row we’ve gone to a UCLA football game. It is SO.MUCH.FUN.  We go a little early, bring some food, play a little football in the parking lot (which happens to be a golf course), walk a mile to the Rose Bowl and sit and enjoy a good game of college football.  I’m so thankful we’re making these memories with our kids. It’s so special to them and they SO look forward to it.  I love how proud James looks when they stand up and cheer for UCLA.  Maybe someday Canyon will be the quarterback? You should see his spiral!!
