Photo Class.

I’m toying with the idea of having a photo class here at my house. I was wondering if anyone out there would be interested. I would teach things like: finding the best light, choosing your settings (ISO, aperture, shutter speed), and maybe even some photoshop skills. If you’re interested, post a comment or send me an email:  emily@emilyjamesphoto.com

Thanks 🙂 I’ll leave you with some photos of my beautiful niece who is about to graduate at the TOP of her class!! Love you Baylee!!

Some Random Thoughts on a Sunday Afternoon.

I actually scrapbooked yesterday. I don’t scrapbook like I used to scrapbook. Most of my work is done on the computer now, but I do eventually print it out & put it in a album- so that’s the same.  I realized how much I enjoy it, though. I like to create and edit my photos and place things just right on the page, choose the correct colors, journal, etc.  I’m thankful that I wrote everything down when my kids were babies. I have calendars and journals for each of the kids and it contains all the day to day stuff: things they said, things they ate, things they did, their schedules, fussy times, etc. etc… But there’s something about going back 2 years later and looking over the photos, remembering how it was…. the journaling is different. It’s more meaningful because it’s  full of emotion over the memories and not just facts about what happened.  I’m trying to finish Keagan’s baby album. Only 6 more months to go! Then I can start on Chloe’s 🙂  Wish me luck. Another project I want to accomplish this summer: Chloe’s Room. I wasn’t going to decorate for her, but I got the itch to do it. Say bye-bye to Kennedy’s old room…

One thing we all love in this family is reading. We read aloud A LOT, probably everyday. We recently read Greek and Roman myths since we’ve been studying Ancient Greece & Rome.
Then, we picked up the audio cds for The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. The kids are LOVING it, so after school on Tuesday we took a little trip to Cost Plus and picked up some Turkish Delight. The kids thought it was so cool..the boys LOVED it. Kennedy..not so much. It was disgusting… basically jelly wrapped in chocolate.

This is Chloe. She’s troubled. She had learned to sleep and then she forgot… can you please help her?

This is James. He got a new bike. He’s been waiting for a LONG time for this bike. He’s happy about it. 🙂 He never smiles this big.

Kennedy (on the left) is wearing an ADORABLE little shirt/dress my mom made for her. Don’t you love it?  I sure do. Paired with her gray leggings, denim jacket and Michael Kors jeweled sandals, she’s a fashion sensation!  Chloe (On the right) is cute in just her huggies supreme 🙂  Who needs clothes??

April 18, 2010 - 10:35 pm

Cari - Could you dress me like you dress Kennedy? I would appreciate it.

April 18, 2010 - 11:35 pm

emily - I wish I could dress myself like I dress Kennedy! I’m living vicariously..

April 19, 2010 - 12:51 pm

sara - Can I borrow Chloe? Just for a little while. I’m going through HUGE baby withdrawals. She’s cute and I think I’d like her. And is Kennedy’s dress a “pillow case” dress? It looks very similar if not.

April 19, 2010 - 6:59 pm

Bethany - Oh my goodness! Chloe has grown/changed so much since I last saw her and Kennedy is looking all grown up! Tell those kids to stop growing! Miss seeing you all every day! 🙂

April 20, 2010 - 5:09 pm

emily - Sara- it is, in fact, a pillowcase dress. It’s not made out of a pillowcase, but it’s the same style:)
Bethany- We miss you!!!! Can you hurry up and have that baby?

April 22, 2010 - 12:14 am

Hallie - Good stuff. Keep up the good work!

Easter Sunday

Easter Sunday was a little different this year. My sister’s flight left at noon so I drove her to the airport around 10am. Right smack in the middle of our 2 church services. So we got up early, cut the kids’ hair, bathed & showered all 5 kids, loaded up the car with her 25 suitcases full of souvenir t-shirts (just a little joke, Aym- although it’s mostly true:) ) and headed down to LAX.  Got home in time to have a little egg hunt at our neighbor’s (she spoils my kids), came home & made Yummy Potatoes (an old favorite recipe from years ago) and an appetizer and headed over to Christine’s for Easter dinner. We had so much fun, the kids LOVE getting together with friends… but I hit the pillow HARD last night. As soon as Amazing Race was over, we were all snoozing…  and I may or may not have slept in until 8:30.

Hallie - Your family is cute. As are you!

Month at a Glance.

I’ve been away from my blog for a little while, but with good reason. Having 5 children is really cutting into my blogging time. 🙂 I’m excited for Chloe to move to a 4 hour schedule, but I’m happy to report that she is sleeping through the night from 10pm to 6am. She’s been doing that for quite a while now so I really can’t complain about anything.   March has been a “Busy” month (I hate saying that. “Busy” is one of my least favorite words). Let’s say “full” instead. March has been a FULL month 🙂

THIS MONTH:

Our Big Girl adored our Little Girl…

We watched God’s incredible creativity at work through metamorphosis. This was such an amazing experiment- I highly recommend it. The kids named all 5 caterpillars and took such great care of them. Alex came out with a broken wing and Canyon was so concerned about him. He took great care of him & was so sad that he couldn’t  fly away with his brothers and sister. He fed Alex faithfully until he finally passed away 🙁  He has a very soft heart- it’s beautiful to see.

We said hello to baby Chase..

We said good-bye to our dear friends 🙁

This little piggy turned 2..

We played Super Mario Bros. Wii everyday. Kennedy & I created this Luigi hat together.  🙂

The weather was good and bad. We went to the park a LOT this month. Keagan is my only child who, as a 2 year old, is not afraid of the swings.

April ran a triathlon and didn’t even break a sweat…

My sister and nephew came to visit from Ohio and we took them to the Getty Villa. We’ve been studying the Ancient Greeks and Romans so it was so awesome for the kids to see the art and recognize the gods and goddesses from Greek and Roman mythology. I am one proud mama!

Our niece, Alysa, came up for lunch one day.

We took a drive around the lake and found a new favorite spot…

I’d say March was a very good month indeed.

April 3, 2010 - 3:29 pm

Cari - Shouldn’t you be sleeping at 1:27 am? I appreciate your resolve though.

April 3, 2010 - 8:44 pm

emily - I’m pretty sure the time zone is off on my blog. I think I posted around 10:30pm 🙂

April 4, 2010 - 12:52 am

sara - I like your new favorite spot. I’d like photos of my family there. Thanks. 🙂

ps is your niece going to Masters?

April 4, 2010 - 4:04 pm

april - I disagree about not breaking a sweat. Two days later I could hardly move. It meant a lot to have you there. Thank you! Can I see the other pics you took?

April 6, 2010 - 5:50 pm

Hallie - Wow, that was a fast month! Miss you!
