I woke up around 2:30am and couldn’t fall asleep again. πΒ Β I hate when that happens- I just know I’ll pay for it today. I couldn’t just lay there (lie there? what’s the correct usage here?) with a million thoughts running through my mind so I got up, answered some emails, and edited photos. I’m pretty sure I’ll need a nap by 9am. π
Looking over some photos I’m editing & found these.Β I love to give myself a week or two before I process my shots. It gives me fresh eyes.
This one really caught my eye. It almost looks like a tilt-shift lens, do you think?
I love this one in black and white. Shannon has such beautiful colors and patterns in her house. It was really fun to shoot in her home!
So sweet, Emily! What a beautiful baby. I could have used a tilt-shift lens when I took photos of a house. Not that I have any idea how to use them, but it would have been nice for the high ceilings.
It’s so wonderful. You have to read it. It’s set in the early 1900’s in England. There were a lot of “vernacular” tidbits I had to look up, but it was well worth it.Β The boy, Peter, was my favorite character. He is smack dab in the middle of 2 sisters, without his father. You really feel for him.Β I’ll share this quote with you:
**The children are speaking about being married**
“I suppose I shall have to be married some day,” said Peter, “but it will be an awful bother having her round all the time.Β I’d like to marry a lady who had trances, and only woke up once or twice a year.”
“Just to say you were the light of her life, and then go to sleep again? Yes. That wouldn’t be bad,” said Bobbie. (his oldest sister)
“When I get married,” said Phyllis, “I shall want him to want me to be awake all the time, so that I can hear him say how nice I am!”
It made us laugh out loud. And these books always make me wish I had been born at the turn of the century (early 1900’s). So many wonderful things happened then- so many amazing writers!Β So much history. But I guess to them it wasn’t history, it was just life…. and probably a hard life for most.
Time for a new book! π
Our niece, Alysa, moved in with us for the summer. We β₯ her. She is amazing. I’m old news- the kids want to play with herΒ all. the. time. And she loves to play with them, too! Kennedy might be a tiny bit obsessed with her.
Somebody’s getting chubby. And no, it’s not me π
She LOVES her daddy kisses. She laughs out loud- it’s cute π She is officially sleeping 12 hours at night. woot. woot.
In other news… we are almost done with school and gearing up for summer. Right now we’re finishing up The Railway Children by Edith Nesbit. I love it, the kids love it. It’s a good read. I’m planning to read at LEAST 5 books out loud to the kids this summer. Any recommendations? Please leave a comment- I’d love to hear some ideas. That’s goal #1.Β I’m planning to read at LEAST 5 books of my own this summer. I’m planning to visit the pool several times a week (with the kids, of course), I’m planning to purge, organize and deep clean my ENTIRE house this summer, and I’m planning to organize and get ready for school next year (chore charts, lesson plans, daily schedules, etc.). Too lofty?Β We’ll see π
I’m dying. I’m in love with the dangling legs photo. I want those legs. Not on my body, that would be weird, but I’d like to squeeze them a little. And oh my, your niece has grown. I remember her when she was just an itty bitty. π
Funny our goals are almost exactly the same. The only difference is you will probably accomplish them because I will be too distracted with everything outdoors and not in my home. Do audible books listened to in the car on the way to the beach still count? I say yes. Can we join you at the pool?
So I keep coming back to look at the dangling leg picture. Is that weird? I’m going to have to steal that shot from you when my nephew comes…if that’s OK?? I love it.
Steal away, Sara. In my opinion, there are no unique ideas anymore, just everyone’s take on everyone else’s old ideas. π
