I can’t believe it’s been THIS long & I haven’t mentioned Loretta! I’ve talked to my mom, my sister, many friends…. Hallie even came to visit & we didn’t even introduce her to Loretta. Well…. we have a new member of our family. He’s tiny and furry and actually kinda cute. His name is Loretta. That’s right. Loretta’s a boy. I don’t know why- that’s just what they wanted to name him (Cade mostly).
The kids have been asking for about a year. I was firmly against having an animal of any kind (I’m not an animal person, really), but they’ve been saving…and reading ALL about hamsters….and they pooled their money together and finally had enough to buy the cage, the food, the bedding, the water bottle and…. Loretta. We caved.
They carry her cage everywhere they go. They even took her in their fort this morning. Cade wants to clean the cage every day, which is fine with me! They take turns feeding her, er.. him, I get confused.
He/she is really hard to photograph. She’s really fast! This is the best I can do for now. **Thank you Hartungs for the ball- he/she loves it**

jenny - I love James’ face in the picture with the cage. Oy. Don’t tell my kids about the hamster. It was bad enough that Hallie’s kids got a pet worm, and now yours get a hamster. Do all moms have to cave? I am strong, but only so much.
Hallie - NO YOU DIDN’T! I just asked the boys and they were like, “yeah they have a hamster.” Wow, I don’t know what to say. You know the first step is admitting you have a problem. You opened the flood gates my friend…it’s over. You may as well get a knit sweater with cats and puppies on it 🙂
Cari - Next step is a dog. You could have Daisy. She has a lazy eye.
april - Glad you didn’t listen to me. I think I dropped on a notch on Cade’s love meter when I was telling you how dirty they are. Have fun! It’s a good excuse to have Mimi over more.
Dena - you should totally make that sweater..Those little owl feet(on Chloe’s onesie) could be the beginning of your mad stitching skills.
